Be brave enough to live creatively. The creative is the place where no one else has ever been. You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. You can't get there by bus, only by hard work, risking, and by not quite knowing what you're doing. What you'll discover will be wonderful: yourself. --Alan Alda

Meet Sally Golubosky

 A Little About Me...Sally Golubosky

I was born a loooong time ago in a place far away. At least it seems that way now! I am originally from Georgia but have moved all over. Mine is a tale of a military brat becoming a military wife and now a retired military wife. My husband retired from the US Air Force after 23 years of service this past December, 2008. We have settled in Tabor, Iowa and have no plans of moving again. I put my foot down on that one. After packing up on Uncle Sam's whims every few years for the last twenty, I'm ready to sit still for a bit. We have a 17 year old son, 3 dogs, 3 cats, fish and Henry the singing cockatiel, not to count all the stray teenage boys in and out that aren't claimed on our taxes!!

I am a self taught artist and have been in the creative mood since I was born. While stationed in Washington DC, I worked as a professional porcelain doll maker for a shop in Waldorf, MD. I did a lot of restoration work, was the primary "pourer" (I poured all the greenware), cleaned all the greenware, painted thousands of finger and toe nails and did more reproduction antique sewing than I can shake a stick at. The ladies in the shop didn't quite know what to think of some of my "Special" dolls... Couldn't keep myself from carving vampire teeth, fairy ears and painting tattoos on my own dolls!! Not to say they where all that way...I liked making pin-up girls too. Pouring molds day after day really made me want to sculpt my own creatures. That is where my love for polymer clay began. I started playing with clay on and off nearly ten years ago. The last five years, I have lived and breathed clay. Most all other hobbies seem to have fallen by the wayside and disappeared. Dragons have been in my blood from the first time I saw one as a child. When I looked at commercial sculpts and depictions I was always let down. They make them so mean!! Didn't anyone watch "Pete's Dragon"? He was so sweet and kind. That is what I wanted my dragons to represent. No mean snarly, bloody, pointy teeth!

I hope you enjoy the class and if at anytime you need help or have a question don't hesitate to contact me. Thanks for joining us!
